About the Old Dutch Candyshop

Right at the very heart of the Jordan-district in Amsterdam, close to the Anne Frank Museum, you'll find the Old Dutch Candyshop, offering you candy the way our grandparents must have offered it back in the days.

Shop-owner Mariska is more than welcome to introduce you to licorice, sticky treats, caramels, salmiac, but also some very odd traditional sweets you don't come across easily nowadays.

Mariska started her sweetshop back in 2002, remembering that her grandmother used to have a confectioner in Amsterdam, where you could also buy candy. "I like to think this is the way she used to run her candy-business", she says when asked about the idea behind this shop.

You can still buy candies by the numbers, but also in a typical brown paper bag by half the 100 grams. If you need any assistence, don't hasitate to ask Mariska. She's more than welcome to order what's not already in store! And yes, the store also offers some sweets for diabetic people!

Pop by and get yourself a sweet treat!
